Even or especially in situations of upheaval such as the coronavirus crisis, it becomes clear how alignment, speed and market orientation go hand in hand: Those who only "drive by sight" in these areas can quickly crash. But what impact is this crisis having - where are markets and needs heading? Clear truths are certainly difficult to find here. But there is a high probability that this crisis will fundamentally change the needs of our markets and customers. It is now up to us to take an active shaping role and anticipate these needs in our products and services. "Anyone who misses the momentum, acts too slowly, doesn't focus enough on the market or is too in love with their own solution will lose!" is how innovation pilot Dr Christoph Dill summed it up at the 25th anniversary of the UnternehmerTreffen.

It is important to understand what the customer needs - and not just what they want. In this way, teams may come up with solutions that the "normal" customer wouldn't even think of. If companies look at customer needs from a new perspective and creatively ask themselves how these needs can be met, there is a much greater chance of innovative, outstanding solutions being created. And only if they succeed in developing excellent products that generate high margins will German manufacturing companies continue to be successful on the global markets in the future.
