GmbH or GbR? Niche or mass market? Production in Germany or Asia? B2B or B2C sales? Private financing or subsidised loans? These are just a few of the questions that founders of start-ups are often confronted with. Isabelle Possehl, Managing Director of mabottie Gmbh, which was founded in 2016, gives an insight into the decision-making processes of a founder and reports on her personal experiences at Creative After Work.

Isabelle Possehl was already the co-founder and managing director of two successful companies in Pforzheim before she took the plunge again and founded the DIY shoe start-up mabottie GmbH. Her customisable shoes based on a special sole are already available in France, the UK, Japan and Australia under the brand name "Botties". Marketing and sales of Botties soles are currently underway in the USA, Canada and Spain, and a partner is about to join the company. What sounds like a successful path means facing new challenges behind the scenes every day and making important strategic decisions. In her presentation, Isabelle Possehl will shed light on how these have had an impact on the company's success in retrospect - and are set to have an impact in the future.

Isabelle Possehl is co-founder and managing director of the tape art studio DUMBO AND GERALD, the design studio DMBO and the DIY shoe start-up mabottie GmbH. She studied Visual Communication at Pforzheim University from 2004-2009. In 2008, she was honoured with the Future Fashion Footwear Award from the German Shoe Industry Association for a shoe concept as part of a student project, and in 2009 she received a Young European Talent award from the European Commission/Committee of the Regions. From 2012-2017, she was a lecturer in "Media Design" at Pforzheim University, and in 2014 she was honoured as a role model entrepreneur by former Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel.
