Luxury! - the symposium
Time: Fri., 9.30-18 h, Sat., 9.30-13 h
Location: Faculty of Design, Holzgartenstraße 36, 75175 Pforzheim
Luxury jewellery, luxury markets, luxury as a lifestyle - I'm into luxury. Jewellery and design are not simply about "creating the most expensive". Luxury is about limitation and longevity, scarcity and refinement, sophistication and refinement, desire and sensuality. And the questioning of oneself: What is luxury in saturated markets - for those who already have everything? And for those at the other end of the market chain? The symposium, conceived by Prof. Dr Thomas Hensel, presents the positions of outstanding designers, consultants and cultural theorists and brings them into dialogue with each other.
We live in a world of fleeting brand hype and are confronted with ubiquitous disposable items. Countless product copies and increasingly accelerated product cycles are changing the DNA of luxury products. What will future luxury products look like in detail? What strategies will designers use to make things particularly valuable? What is the luxury of the future?
