Focus on the new EU General Data Protection Regulation
The new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will apply from May 2018, posing major challenges for small companies in particular: They will be confronted with an increased administrative burden and face drastic penalties in the event of an emergency. Companies should therefore familiarise themselves with the changes and consequences of the regulation at an early stage.
Specifically, the GDPR provides for increased accountability and documentation obligations, requires the guarantee of technical and organisational measures to protect stored data and has an impact on contract management. Failure to comply with the regulations can result in heavy fines.
At Creative After Work, Hans-Jürgen Schwarz will explain the most important legal bases of data protection and present the key changes to the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Among other things, he will explain when data collection is permitted, who in the company is liable for compliance with data protection law and what requirements the GDPR places on companies' websites and privacy policies. Finally, he shows what measures companies can take to adequately prepare for the GDPR.

Hans-Jürgen Schwarzborn in 1961, is a business economist and data protection officer (IHK). He has been self-employed in the IT sector since 1985, specialising in ERP software development. He has held numerous honorary positions in various associations and non-profit organisations. In 2013, he founded the Bundesverband der Vereine und des Ehrenamts e.V. (bvve) and has been its president ever since.
