In cooperation with Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences and the Design Center Baden-Württemberg, the city of Pforzheim has been inviting international young designers to Pforzheim every year since 2016 as part of the "Designers in Residence" scholarship programme. Three designers from the fields of jewellery, fashion, accessories, industrial and communication design as well as other design disciplines can work on their own projects at EMMA - Kreativzentrum Pforzheim from April to June, which are then presented in an exhibition at EMMA.
In addition to a place in the fully equipped workshops and coworking area, the scholarship holders receive free accommodation, monthly financial support and a materials allowance. The scholarship holders can also use the infrastructure of the Faculty of Design at Pforzheim University. On average, more than 270 designers from over 50 countries apply for a scholarship. The selection is made by a high-calibre jury.

The "PF Revisited" project aims to save traditional techniques of handcrafted jewellery production, such as guilloché, embossing and pressing, from extinction. In semester courses and a scholarship programme at the German Museum of Technology in Berlin, retired Pforzheim master jewellers pass on their expertise to students. The EMMA - Creative Centre Pforzheim is home to the project office with historical machines, where traditional techniques can be transferred into contemporary design. "PF Revisited" is a project of the jewellery course at Pforzheim University and is supported by C. Hafner. It is part of the overall project "Manufakturelle Schmuckgestaltung" of the Stiftung Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin (SDTB). The German UNESCO Commission has included it in the register of "Good Practice Examples for the Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage".
