Drama based on the novel of the same name by Virginia Wolf about a young nobleman who receives the gift of eternal life from Elizabeth I.

Nobleman Orlando receives a rich gift from Queen Elizabeth I in 1660 - on condition that he never grows old. The effeminate lord lives through the centuries, is severely disappointed in his love for the beautiful Russian woman Sasha, takes refuge in poetry and becomes an English ambassador to the Orient, only to continue his life in the body of a woman until the present day. Only then does the eternally driven man finally find peace. A milestone in queer literature congenially adapted for film.
