Fraunhofer AHEAD, EXIST start-up grant, WIPANO, Startup BW ProTect, IDEENSTARK from MFG, James Dyson Award, Artur Fischer Prize, Heinrich Blank Foundation Award - this is just a selection of the prizes and funding opportunities that Sophia Lindner has received for the development of a new type of ballet shoe and the resulting establishment of her start-up "act'ble". The Pforzheim University graduate has now successfully founded a limited company based in Karlsruhe, where she employs five people and is about to launch the patented pointe shoe on the market.
At Creative After Work, Sophia Lindner tells her start-up story and shares her experiences with funding programmes for start-ups. She also gives an insight into the development process of her ballet shoe and the patent application and reports on the associated challenges and successes.
In collaboration with professional dancers, Act'ble is developing a ballet shoe that is significantly more durable than a conventional pointe shoe thanks to its material and design, while also reducing the physical strain on dancers. Sophia Lindner, who danced ballet herself for 14 years, has been researching the shoe concept since 2017 and applied for a patent in 2018.
