Creative After Work
Time: 7 pm
Location: EMMA Creative Centre Pforzheim, Emma-Jaeger-Straße 20, 75175 Pforzheim
Topic: Insights into the Israeli art and design scene
What Berlin is to Germany, Tel Aviv is to Israel: the city on the Mediterranean coast is considered the cultural centre of Israel. The city is also increasingly attracting young artists from Israel and around the world.
The artists Maya Aruch and Gal Melnick live and work in Tel Aviv. They met while studying at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem and have been realising art projects together ever since.
At Creative After Work, Maya Aruch and Gal Melnick will use their own stories to provide insights into the Israeli art and design scene, talk about the forms and possibilities of artistic collaborations and explain how the political situation influences their work.
With their installation "Showtime", Maya Aruch and Gal Melnick are also part of the exhibition "Wa(h)re Angst" from 6-29 October 2017 at EMMA - Kreativzentrum Pforzheim and the Alfons-Kern-Turm, which explores the causes and consequences of fear against the backdrop of current social change.
Most of the lecture will be held in English.
