Creative After Work on tour

The Creative After Work goes on tour again! On Wednesday, 14 May 2025 at 7 pm we celebrate together the studio opening of the fashion label Kitschy Couture in the ROWI-Quartier, Bleichstraße 64. Founder Abarna Kugathasan and her team provide an insight into the world of Kitschy Couture: the fashion label has already been invited twice to Berlin Fashion Week, where it caused a stir with its extraordinary shows, and has also been featured in Vogue India and Harpers Bazaar, among others. At Creative After Work on tour, they explain how they managed this, what experiences they were able to gain and the story behind their label.

Afterwards, we invite you to immerse yourself further in the Kitschy Couture universe with music, food and drinks.

Kitschy Couture is a tribute to diasporic identity and tells the personal story of founder Abarna Kugathasan, who grew up between Sri Lankan heritage and Western influences. As the daughter of Tamil parents, she thematises the feeling of homesickness, the search for belonging and the beauty of transcultural identity in her collections. Kitschy Couture stands for all those whose lives are characterised by intercultural experiences and celebrates diversity and authenticity. In Pforzheim - the designer's home town - the designs for Berlin Fashion Week are created in the impressive ROWI neighbourhood. This is where an interdisciplinary team of students and graduates from Pforzheim University come together with up-and-coming international talent from the fashion industry. Student friendships have grown into a family that not only masters the challenges of Fashion Week together, but also redefines the rules of the fashion industry.
